TL-BR-54-100 & 101 UPDATE 3
Hello,
On May 29, We celebrated Shabbat led by participants from various schools coming together to bring unique ways of celebrating together in a joyous moment.
On May 30, we walked to the Israel Musuem where the participants were in awe of the Dead Sea Scrolls, loved seeing the giant statue of Ahava, and seeing the wonders in history that Israel offers. Later, we walked to a local park to explore and discuss our Jewish identity and rank our Jewish values which brought unique perspectives blending the diaspora and Israeli values in harmony/tension and within each other as well. We ended Shabbat with David’s Cards to discuss our Jewish connection to Israel and delved into deep story sharing of personal connections to the Holocaust, antisemitism that we encountered and on a positive note, on how we made an antisemtic incident into an educational moment for either the other people or ourselves.
On May 31, we were went to Yad Vashem and Har Hertzl where we headed witnessing to the atrocities of history and paid tribute to loved ones and those who bravely gave their lives for this country.
On June 1st, we went to a lookout point at Givat Kobi. Then went to to Sderot to understand more about the challenges the South faces around the Gaza envelope, followed by volunteering. Then we went to the Nova site where the participants really learned and could see first hand how the atrocity was that day. We are now happily staying overnight at the desert tent experience, excited for Masada tomorrow. We did a web of connection with yarn activity to send off the Israelis (a night early) and give gratitude to someone we connected to on the trip as well as share our own favorite part of the trip.
On June 2nd, early in the morning, we hiked up Masada and made it for sunrise. Participants enjoyed hearing the story of Masada and witnessing the beauty of the sunrise.
