VOLUNTEER IN ISRAEL FOR MEDICAL STUDENTS
In response to October 7th, Israelis united around a collective volunteering effort to fill gaps in society. The work to rebuild and renew is just getting started, and MinDset invites you to rally your support for the people of Israel, in the land of Israel while the needs are greatest.
This 11-day Birthright Israel Volunteer trip is designed for can-do medical students and professional seeking the opportunity to put their skills to use. We'll start with the MinDstart Hackathon 2025 followed by meaningful volunteer work.

We'll follow up with an interview, discuss next steps, and get you ready for this important journey together
The trip is free, but you'll need to pay a $50 Birthright Israel registration fee once you've been accepted and a $550 flight fee if using the optional group flight
We'll send you a planning guide to arrange your travels and help you get ready with a pre-trip orientation session
The actual volunteer program dates in Israel are June 5-15, 2025
OPTION #1 | Arrange your own flights
Land in Israel by 5:00pm on the arrival day (June 5)
Leave the trip anytime as of 12:01am on the departure day (June 15)
i.e., the program ends whenever you want on the final day
Volunteers pay a $50 Birthright Israel non-refundable application fee
OPTION #2 | Use the group flight from NYC
Depart from NYC on June 4 and return to NYC on June 15
Volunteers fly to Israel as a group but can extend their return flight (standard extension fee applies).
Flights cost $600 – of which, $50 applies as the non-refundable Birthright Israel application fee.
The group flight can be canceled for a full refund up to 65 days in advance, after which it is non-refundable.
Exact flight details will be made available once confirmed on a trip. Volunteers arrange their own travel to the gateway airport.

VOLUNTEER
Volunteer ~4-6 hours per day when/where it's needed most. Put your healthcare skills and experience for good while exploring the Israeli medical system. Plus, you'll participate in a MinDstart Hackathon, the the first international hackathon for medical students.
CONNECT
Visit the border communities, stand in solidarity with the families of the hostages, and get to know a group of Israeli peers.

Part One: The International Hackathon
Join us in Jerusalem from June 4th to 6th for the first international hackathon dedicated to medical students - the MinDstart Hackathon 2025! This innovative 72-hour event will bring together 200 medical students, technology developers, and entrepreneurs from around the globe to revolutionize healthcare and tackle real-world medical challenges presented by top Israeli hospitals. Before the hackathon, you will participate in an intensive workshop that will equip you with essential tools to approach medical challenges and effectively analyze the data you’ll encounter during the contest.
Part Two: Exploring Israeli Healthcare
Following the hackathon, immerse yourself in the heart of Israel’s healthcare system. You will have the opportunity to volunteer and receive mentorship from some of Israel’s leading physicians. This part of the program is designed to offer you firsthand insights into the innovative medical techniques and advancements that have positioned the Israeli healthcare system at the forefront of global medicine.

Safe travel during a time of conflict
While these remain difficult days in Israel, we are hosting thousands of can-do volunteers responsibly – and we'll continue to do so as long as we are confident in being able to provide a safe and meaningful experience. Rest assured, we provide 24 x 7 staff supervision, all of our accommodations are equipped with safe rooms, and we travel together as a group for organized programming.
