Update from Israel #Bus546

These last few days have been unbelievably eventful, and everyone’s bucket list just got a bit shorter. Our Israeli peers joined us, and we hiked Masada at sunrise, floated in the salty Dead Sea, slept in a Bedouin tent (after eating authentic and delicious Bedouin food), rode camels, and learned some Israeli dancing. The fun was never ending, and the group smiled from cheek to cheek.

Last night, we opened a conversation on the Holocaust in preparation for our visit to Yad Vashem, Israel’s Holocaust museum. The conversation was eye opening and emotional, and the participants all remembered the deeper meaning behind their Judaism. Today, we first visited Mount Herzl, Israel’s national cemetery. Our Israeli peers shared stories of loss and hope as they talked about their friends in the army. Then, we visited Yad Vashem, and went through the beautiful museum’s touching tribute. The group felt the emotional pull of the Jewish struggle, but remain hopeful and positive for our future.

We’re excited for the last couple of days in Jerusalem, visiting the Old City, the Kotel, and the Shuk.
