TL-50-100 UPDATE 4

Today started with waking up in Jerusalem, where we began our day with excitement by meeting our 8 Israeli peers who will be joining our family for the next 5 days!

We continued our day by visiting Yad Vashem, the Holocaust memorial and museum. The experience was deeply moving as we learned about the history and horrors of the Holocaust.

Afterwards, we explored Mahne Yahuda Market, bustling with vendors selling fresh produce, spices, and local delicacies. It was a vibrant contrast to the solemnity of Yad Vashem, offering a taste of everyday life in Jerusalem.

Returning to the hotel we reflected further on what we had seen, processing the emotions stirred by the exhibits and memorials dedicated to the victims of the Holocaust.

As evening fell, we participated in Kabbalat Shabbat, welcoming the Sabbath with prayers and songs. The atmosphere was serene and spiritual, marking the transition into the Sabbath.

The highlight of the day was the festive Shabbat dinner, where we chanted blessings for wine and challah. It was a time for celebration and togetherness, honoring the Sabbath in a joyful manner.

Following dinner, we engaged in Oneg Shabbat, a time of relaxation and enjoyment, with snacks and juices, deepening our connection with others and with the Shabbat experience.

Overall, today was a blend of poignant reflection at Yad Vashem, lively exploration at Mahne Yahuda Market, and spiritual enrichment through Shabbat rituals, all shared with our Israeli peers, culminating in a memorable and meaningful day in Jerusalem.
