The sun sets over the vista, and we gather too begin our prayers. Amir, our tour guide, introduces us to the concept of the sabbath bride, the idea that we are welcoming in the holiness of the day, to take us into a space above our day to day routine.
We gather to celebrate a common identity, despite our differences, despite being from different places, beliefs and ideologies. The land brings Jews together to create a holy space, beyond our regular lives.
Tired and jet-lagged, we find renewal from the evening. The Sabbath is a day for rest, for recognizing what truly matters to you in your life, when we rarely take the opportunity to cherish the small moments in our lives.
