TL-47-401 Update 1

Hello from Bus 401!!

We’ve had a great few days in Israel so far! After a long day of traveling, we made it to Israel and traveled to a northern city called Ha’on, on the shore of the Sea of Galilee. We spent our second day hiking, visiting the peace lookout in the Golan Heights and the Gamla Nature Preserve, where we saw a waterfall and took a group picture.

Next, we went to Kazrin, a city in the center of the Golan Heights, where we had lunch—our first shawarma experience of the trip. One of our participants, Brett, even wrapped tefillin in the shawarma shop! We went to the supermarket to get snacks for Shabbat before going back to our hotel for the evening. We lit hannukah candles, had a Kabbalat Shabbat ceremony and ate a wonderful Shabbat dinner before doing some icebreakers to get to know each other and heading to bed.

For Shabbat, we got together for some fun activities to discuss our Jewish identities. Participants also learned about the kibbutz way of living in Israel, and got a chance to review a map to discuss where we are and where we’ll be going in the country.

Tomorrow we head to Tzfat, a mystical city known for Kabbalah and Judaica. We can’t wait to ride ATVs in Tzipori before heading to Tel Aviv and meeting our Israeli participants!

Stay tuned for more updates!
