TL-46-905 Update 2

Bus 905 takes on Jerusalem! Today was our first day in Jerusalem and it did not disappoint. After breakfast, our day started by welcoming our Israeli participants to the group. We were all excited to meet new friends and quickly began finding the similarities and differences between one another.

We navigated the winding roads of the Old City on our way to the Kotel. We wrote our notes and enjoyed some spiritual moments at the wall before continuing our tour to the ancient steps. In ancient civilizations most Jews would make a pilgrimage once a year to the Temple. There’s a very high likelihood that our ancestors entered the Temple on those very steps.

As our hunger grew, we headed to Mahane Yehuda to experience a true taste of chaotic Israeli culture! Being a Friday afternoon, the market was bustling. We all enjoyed a delicious lunch and loved shopping for our favourite snacks. We returned to the kibbutz just in time for a refreshing swim in the pool.

We all got changed into our Shabbat clothes and gathered to reflect on the week. We took a few minutes to reflect on the busy week we had had and separate the upbeat scheduled energy from our relaxed Shabbat energy.  A few more minutes of reflection helped us appreciate how fortunate we are to have the lives that we do.  Whether appreciative for being able bodied, healthy, having an education, having a loving family, or anything else, we all connected over the fact that we could all take a break from our busy lives to share a unique, and intimate trip together.
