TL-46-489 Update 1

TL-46-489 had a busy and great first day!  Straight off the plane we got moving with our incredible guide Ephraim.  We had a bit of a drive to our first accommodations at the Golan Field School. We saw open land near Haifa and a lot of kibbutzim.  The first photos attached are from a scenic overlook where we could see the Mediterranean Sea and the Sea of Galilee!  Our driver Huji took us to his favorite spot as we passed where he and his family live!

The second group of photos is from our first full day. In the morning we stopped to learn about the geography and political history that goes along with the State of Israel. In the Golan Heights we discussed the Six Day War, the Yom Kippur War, and more of the conflict that occurred in this land and where it stems from. We were able to explore Syrian bunkers. Pictured is Ben E. inside the bunker and one shot from the inside of a bunker with Jonah I. on the outside.

The group went on a hike in the morning (Tel Dan). The last photo is a group listening to our guide along the hike.

Our group is mostly from the West Coast. Everyone is getting along great and excited for the trip- the hikes, rafting, food, community, history, and connecting with Jewish identity.
