TL-46-354/1082 Update 1

Wow, what a 24hrs we have had!

Two groups met in two different locations, yet came together as one family in such a short time. Our group flew in from both LGA and JFK and met in Israel. During the journey over from the US, both groups were able to bond, ask questions, share laughs, and begin to get to one or each other. The JFK crew would meet in the middle of the plane near the bathrooms to stretch our legs, hydrate with water, and begin to gather information about each other as we inquired about one another. The 10hr flight flew by (no pun intended) and we landed in Israel. We took our PCR tests required by Israel (all tested negative, BH), met our Israel tour educator, Amir, got some breakfast, then jumped on the bus and headed to the north to our first hotel. We had time to take pictures, gaze over the stunning sea of Galilee, enjoy the sun and scenic views, and decompress from the flight and bus ride with the beauty that was before us. We ate lunch together and shared more stories and engaged in conversations learning more about each other. We got our room assignments and were able to shower and recharge. Then many folks gathered and chatted by the picnic tables and continued to get to know each other, sharing interests, reasons on why they took this trip, where people lived, and what they did in their lives for work and leisure. Then we met for the official welcome session to cover safety procedures, rules of the program, and get some Birthright swag from Israel Outdoors. Then we had a tasty dinner and we were released for the evening to rest up for a busy day ahead. Although we were given free time, most of the group remained together and chatted overlooking the beautiful Sea of Galilee until we eventually returned to our rooms to get some shuteye for the following day. On day one, 26 folks from bus 354&1082 united in purpose and excitement to explore this land and enjoy the remaining 9 days. Let the journey continue – we’re just getting started!

With excitement & gratitude,
Hal, Lexi, and Amir (staff)
