Sing Us a Song of Birthright

Singer/songwriter and Israel By Foot participant Bonnie Gleicher was so moved by her experience on her Israel Outdoors trip this past June that almost immediately after she returned she wrote the following song about her love of Israel.  Bonnie is looking for other New York based musicians to help her record this song.  If you are interested in helping her let us know by either leaving a comment below or sending an e-mail to [email protected].  Thanks Bonnie for sharing this beautiful song with us!

When You Travel

I can’t stop
I can’t sleep
Since I board the plane, I am not the same
Holy Land
The Med Sea
In the desert dust, where I’m meant to be

Cause when you travel, travel, oh so far
The journey brings you to who you are
And when you raft a river, shooting star
The journey brings you to who you are

See the sun
And the moon
When you climb Masada by the afternoon
You’re all sweat
And who cares
The view rewards those who take the dare

Cause when you travel, travel, oh so far
The journey brings you to who you are
And when you raft a river, shooting star
The journey brings you to who you are

And you never will forget
How it felt to feel your best
When you’re alone, you will recall
Your moment at the Western Wall
And you won’t stop, you won’t sleep
Till you’re back and repeat

Board a plane
To a land
That you’ve been before
Now you’re wanting more
Golan Heights
Tel Aviv
Where you’ll party it up, never want to leave

Cause when you travel, travel, oh so far
The journey brings you to who you are
And when you raft a river, shooting star
The journey brings you to who you are

I can’t stop
I can’t sleep
Since I board the plane
I am not the same…
