In response to October 7th, Israelis united around a collective volunteering effort to fill gaps in society. The work to rebuild and renew is just getting started, and we invite you to rally your support for the people of Israel, in the land of Israel while the needs are greatest.
Birthright Israel Volunteer is an 8-14 day trip for can-do travelers seeking the opportunity to volunteer, connect, and renew together.

When registering, you'll need to select a gateway airport even if you don't want a group flight. You can indicate your plan to travel on your own later in the registration.
We'll follow up with an interview, discuss next steps, and get you ready for this important journey together
The trip is free, but you'll need to pay a $50 Birthright Israel registration fee once you've been accepted and a $550 flight fee if using the optional group flight
Trips scheduled through April 2025 also require a fully refundable $250 deposit
We'll send you a planning guide to arrange your travels and help you get ready with a pre-trip orientation session
The cost to volunteer in Israel is free – and flight support is offered to help get you here! The nature of the assistance offered is in transition and currently differs by season as follows:
WINTER SEASON
TRIPS TILL APRIL 2025
Arrange your own flight and get reimbursed
Reimbursements are issued post-program completion (with receipt) and can't exceed the ticket cost. More: Flight Subsidy Terms
• N. America, Asia, FSU: $700 US
• Latin America, S. America, C. America, Australia, S. Africa: $900 US
• Europe & Rest of World: $500 US
You can use any airline and can arrive early or extend post-trip.
EL AL Airlines 15% Discount Code
An additional discount code is available for volunteers flying non-stop roundtrip with EL AL Airlines. The discount and flight reimbursement can be combined. The discount code is provided after you accept your spot and pay the $50 USD registration fee. The code is not valid for flights in April 2025.
SUMMER SEASON
MAY 2025 TRIPS ONWARDS
OPTION #1 | Arrange your own flights
Land in Israel by 5:00pm on the arrival day. For trips starting in May, the arrival day is the second day of the program.
Leave the trip anytime as of 12:01am on the departure day (i.e., the program ends whenever you want on the final day).
Volunteers pay a $50 Birthright Israel non-refundable application fee.
IMPORTANT: When registering, you'll need to select a gateway airport even if you don't want a group flight. You can indicate your plan to travel on your own later in the registration.
OPTION #2 | Use the optional group flight
Flights are offered from select cities. Volunteers fly to Israel as a group but can extend their return flight (standard extension fee applies).
Flights from N. America cost $600 US (Europe flights cost $300 US) – of which, $50 applies as the non-refundable Birthright Israel application fee.
The group flight can be canceled for a full refund up to 65 days in advance, after which it is non-refundable.
Exact flight details will be made available once confirmed on a trip. Volunteers arrange their own travel to the gateway airport.
THE EXPERIENCE
VOLUNTEER
Volunteer ~4-6 hours per day when/where it's needed most. Example projects may include renewing damaged communities in the north or south, assisting farmers who lost their workforce, and providing logistical support.
CONNECT
Visit the border communities, stand in solidarity with the families of the hostages, and get to know a group of Israeli peers.

Safe travel during a time of conflict
While these remain difficult days in Israel, we are hosting thousands of can-do volunteers responsibly – and we'll continue to do so as long as we are confident in being able to provide a safe and meaningful experience. Rest assured, we provide 24 x 7 staff supervision, all of our accommodations are equipped with safe rooms, and we travel together as a group for organized programming.
